Biography

A Journey Through the Strings of the Setar

Mona Amoli (Fallah) is a professional Setar player, composer, educator, and performer specializing in Persian music. She holds a Master’s degree in Performance of Music from Other Cultures from the Royal College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm, and a Bachelor’s degree in Performance of Persian Music from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran.

Her musical journey began in her hometown of Amol, Iran, where she first learned Setar playing techniques and Persian music fundamentals before progressing to the Radif of Mirza Abdollah, the Radif of Mirza Hossein-Qoli, and the Radif of Mahmoud Karimi. She trained under some of Iran’s most respected masters, including Mohammadreza Lotfi, Dariush Pirniakan, Hossein Alizadeh, Parisa, Behdad Babaei, and Massoud Shaari.

Over her career, Mona has performed in Iran and internationally, in both solo and ensemble settings. Her work spans poetry-accompanied performances, cross-cultural collaborations, and concerts with ensembles such as Iranshahr National Instruments Orchestra, Haft Eghlim Ensemble, and Roshana Ensemble.

As a dedicated teacher, Mona has more than ten years of experience guiding students from beginner to advanced levels in Setar performance and Persian music theory. Her artistry reflects both deep respect for tradition and a passion for sharing Persian music with audiences around the world.
